The story shifts west as General James Longstreet assumes command of the Department of the Mississippi. His mission: Stop the fall of Vicksburg and prevent the Confederacy from being split in two. His opponent is none other than his old friend, Sam Grant. But when President Lincoln summons Grant to assume command of the war in the east, a new and dangerous nemesis arises in his place: Sherman! Now Longstreet must gather all the armies and militias between the Alleghenies and the Mississippi to oppose Sherman’s massive army as it sweeps through Georgia.
